Local Government Program Services

Application intakes opening for Community Emergency Preparedness Fund

Program materials for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 intakes of the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund are now available. The CEPF is a suite of funding streams intended to enhance the resiliency of local governments, First Nations, and communities in preparing for and responding to emergencies and climate-related risks.

Province renews climate action funding

The Province has disbursed nearly $72 million in Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP) funding as an upfront payment to support community climate action over the next three years. The final year of LGCAP’s current 2022-25 funding allotment has been disbursed, alongside two additional years of roughly equivalent funding to extend the program through 2027.

An analysis of the Federal housing investment for BC local governments

In advance of the 2024 Budget, the Federal Government has announced a significant series of housing-related measures including: a $6 billion infrastructure fund comprised of $1 billion for municipalities for urgent infrastructure needs, and $5 billion to Provinces and territories; additional housing-focused requirements to access a forthcoming public transit fund; $15 billion in additional funding for rental construction; a Canada Builds fund modelled on BC Builds; and a $400 million top-up to the Housing Accelerator Fund.
