UBCM is seeking local government staff to help update the Harm Reduction Community Guide that was originally released by the Ministry of Health in 2005.
The new Guide will be refreshed to update guidelines, evidence, and tools to support local governments in working with health system partners on harm reduction. The objective of the guide is to increase availability and access to harm reduction services and supports in BC, decrease stigma at the community level, and enhance collaboration and relationship between stakeholders on harm reduction.
The advisory table will meet virtually on a monthly basis for 1.5 hours until the new Guide is complete in fall 2024.
UBCM is seeking senior staff to represent their communities at the Advisory Table. Please forward your expression of interest and relevant experience to UBCM by February 9.
Please note that decriminalization of illicit substances will not be a primary focus of the Guide. For those interested in decriminalization, UBCM and the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions will be seeking additional members to join the Decriminalization Local Government Working Group for Spring 2024. A notice regarding this opportunity will be posted in the Compass in early March.
