Opportunity for comment on rail proximity guidelines

Publishing Date

The Railway Association of Canada (RAC) seeks local and Indigenous government comments on modernizing the Proximity Guidelines for residential or industrial development adjacent to rail lines and operations.

Last updated in 2013, the Proximity Guidelines provide guidance to developers and communities when considering residential or industrial development in proximity to rail. The goal of the modernization process, as outlined by RAC, is to provide a risk-based approach to safe development near rail operations, while enabling communities and railways to grow and thrive. Modernized guidelines will offer clear and practical guidance on how and when to consider noise, vibrations, and emissions impacts from rail operations.
