Community Wellness and Harm Reduction Grants

Interested municipalities and regional districts may apply for the Community Wellness and Harm Reduction Grants provided by the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions, the Overdose Emergency Response Centre and the Community Action Initiative. The application deadline is Monday, November 18th.

Funding is available for municipalities and regional districts who propose community wellness and/or harm reduction projects or initiatives focused on a range of support services and strategies designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, resources and supports for individuals, families and communities to be safer, healthier and more inclusive. Collaboration with local community-based organizations, local First Nations communities and Indigenous service providers is encouraged.

Project funds can be used towards the clean up of discarded needles and other drug paraphernalia. Other examples of projects are available online.

Funding ranges from $15,000 to $50,000 per community as determined by identified need and size of the local government.

Applications must be completed through the CAI Online Grant System and are due by Monday, November 18th, 2019. Funding will be awarded in January 2020.
