Support for the Retention of a Two-Vehicle Ambulance Service

WHEREAS the Council of the District of Tumbler Ridge is very concerned about the possible loss by a reduction of its present British Columbia Ambulance Service from two vehicles to one vehicle; AND WHEREAS the District of Tumbler Ridge is the largest district municipality in area in the Province of British Columbia, with an estimated population of 3,200, of which is believed that 30 percent are senior citizens; AND WHEREAS the District of Tumbler Ridge has within the area inside its municipal boundaries two coal mines under construction, log harvesting, log hauling, tree planting, coal mining, coal hauling, a 300-man construction camp, and oil and gas exploration activity, as well as gas wells in production: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities request that the Minister of Health retain the two-vehicle ambulance service that presently exists in the District Municipality of Tumbler Ridge.
