Whereas the Environmental Assessment Joint Review Panel, the only independent agency to review the recently endorsed Site C project, recommended that Site C be referred to the BC Utilities Commission; And whereas construction of this major project would: - have a major impact on electricity rates throughout the province, - use up considerable provincial borrowing room, thus reducing borrowing capacity for other public infrastructure, and - deny British Columbians an open, transparent, independent and expert review of the economics of the project: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM request the Province to follow the recommendations of its Joint Review Panel and refer the Site C project to the BC Utilities Commission for review of the need for, cost of, and alternatives to this project.
