WHEREAS there are teenagers aged 17 and older who would like to obtain gainful employment but are impeded by the driving restrictions legislated within the graduated licence program; AND WHEREAS the age to obtain an unrestricted drivers licence, at the minimum, is age 19: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM request that the provincial government consider changing the process to allow a driver to gain experience which would result in the driver obtaining hisher licence with no restrictions by 17 years of age.
