Provincial Response

MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT The provincial government mandates industry-led stewardship for nine product categories more than any jurisdiction in North America. The Ministry of Environment has a commitment to add two new product categories to industry-led product stewardship every three years. Mercury containing compact fluorescents light bulbs is on the candidate list of products and may be selected for addition to the Recycling Regulation. The consultation process for selecting the new product categories is complete. In early 2008, the ministry will be making a decision on which products will be regulated.
