RCMP Funding

Whereas the Comox Valley is served by an integrated detachment of the RCMP and all the jurisdictions in the Comox Valley receive the same level of service from the RCMP regardless of financial commitment or funding contribution; And whereas the City of Courtenay funds the greatest number of RCMP members in the Comox Valley and pays significantly higher police costs per capita and responsibility of the RCMP funding model for British Columbia rests with the provincial government: Therefore be it resolved that the provincial government be requested to develop an equitable funding program for all BC municipalities and regional districts including those served by integrated detachments.
