WHEREAS the Province of British Columbia develops a list of accommodation for provincial government business travel: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities request that the provincial government list only those businesses on its preferred list of accommodation for provincial government business travel that are in compliance with local government regulations.
MINISTRY OF FINANCE The Government of British Columbias standard contracts require contractors and suppliers to comply with all applicable laws; therefore, no change to governments procurement policy is required. It is not practical or possible for government to monitor all contractors and suppliers, including those who provide accommodation, for compliance with all applicable laws. In this case, local government has enforcement mechanisms available and is responsible for compliance. However, the next time government obtains quotations from the hotel industry, we will remind them in the Invitation To Quote, they are required to adhere to all applicable laws.
