Patio Heaters

WHEREAS the provincial and federal governments have adopted policies and programs designed to encourage the efficient use of energy in the interest of protecting the natural environment; AND WHEREAS the use of devices such as patio heaters to heat outdoor spaces is highly inefficient: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM petition the Ministry of Environment to work with local governments to develop a model bylaw prohibiting the use of patio heaters and similar devices used to heat outdoor spaces, according to the authority granted under Section 83j of the Community Charter in the interest of encouraging efficient use of energy and protecting the natural environment.
