Homelessness Mental Illness Care

WHEREAS in recent years the Minister of Housing has gone on an aggressive buying program to acquire residential hotels and apartment buildings in major urban centres that can be used for low cost housing; AND WHEREAS outside the Lower Mainland and Victoria regions, smaller to medium sized communities also face homelessness and mental illness patients that need care and homes: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, urge the Province of British Columbia to create a homelessness grant funding that permits all communities to partner with local government in rural areas to provide needed housing.
