Whereas BCs Residential Tenancy Act states that a landlord cannot discriminate in tenancies based on a persons race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, gender, sexual orientation, age or legal source of income Section 10 of the Human Rights Code; And whereas there is evidence to suggest that this kind of discrimination towards prospective tenants is occurring in the BC rental housing market: Therefore be it resolved that BC Housing be urged to proactively pursue instances of discrimination in the BC rental housing market toward ending discrimination in BC tenancies.
