Whereas first responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD are required to prove to WorkSafe BC that the disorder happened out of and during the course of employment, even when their medical doctors have diagnosed the disorder as work-related; And whereas WorkSafe BC denial of these claims simply shifts the burden of compensation onto private insurance carriers and local governments; Therefore be it resolved that a medical diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder by a bona fide medical practitioner representing the patient, be presumed by WorkSafe BC as to have happened out of and during the course of employment, with the burden of proof to the contrary borne by WorkSafe BC.
