Canada Goose Population

WHEREAS non-migratory Canada geese have been rapidly increasing in numbers for the past twenty years; AND WHEREAS the geese are having an increasingly severe impact on food production from the damage they cause to crops; AND WHEREAS legal methods of resolving the problems associated with Canada geese are largely ineffective in the long term: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM petition the federal government and Canadian Wildlife Service to implement changes to the regulations under the Migratory Birds Convention Act, and make effective mechanisms available to local governments in dealing with the problems associated with overpopulation of Canada geese.
