Benefit Plan for Volunteer Fire Fighters

WHEREAS the Fire Services Liaison Group has identified in their Proposed Fire Rescue System Model an impending crisis related to the recruitment and retention of volunteer fire fighters; AND WHEREAS smaller local governments, in an effort to attract and retain quality volunteers for fire departments, would benefit from a reasonably priced medical dental benefit plan for volunteer fire fighters: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of British Columbia Municipalities work with existing carriers to design a medical dental benefit plan, at a reasonable cost, specifically for volunteer fire fighters.
