In response to the Province’s consultation Building BC’s Recovery, Together, UBCM conveyed a submission on behalf of BC local governments. The submission reflects the issues flagged by members including: infrastructure stimulus funding, local government financial recovery, public transit, broadband connectivity and the societal impacts of COVID-19 on communities.
In addition to identifying the above issues, UBCM noted the importance of all orders of government working collaboratively to respond to the impacts of the pandemic. To that end, UBCM has established a Special Committee on Economic Recovery, comprising members of the Presidents Committee, that would serve as the contact point for federal and provincial governments in the recovery effort.
