Attendees at the 2025 Electoral Area Directors’ Forum will have the opportunity to hear from the newly appointed Minister of State for Local Government and Rural Communities, Honourable Brittny Anderson.
Minister Anderson was first elected as the MLA for Nelson-Creston (now called Kootenay Central) in 2020. She was appointed the Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities in November 2024; and previously served as the Premier’s Special Advisor on Youth, as Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, and was a member of the Treasury Board.
Anderson was elected to the City of Nelson Council in 2018 and served on the board of the Regional District of Central Kootenay. She has also worked in regional government in environmental services, focused on resource recovery and water systems.
The EAD Forum will take place February 6 – 7 in Richmond at the Radisson Vancouver Airport Hotel. The agenda will include:
- Canada Community-Building Fund
- Transition to Next Generation 911
- Update on Disaster Financial Assistance
- Open microphone session
- Facilitated discussion to explore Electoral Area Directors’ perspectives on Regional District Legislative Reform.
Please note that for the 2025 EAD forum, there will not be a Local Government Leadership Academy forum prior to, or following, this event.
Registration is open. The cost for the Forum is $199, which includes lunch and a reception on February 6, and breakfast on February 7.
