Local Government Awareness Week

Publishing Date

The 2023 Local Government Awareness Week is May 14-20 (#LGAW2023). This annual initiative is aimed at building public awareness of local government roles and encouraging participation in local government processes.

An Asset Management Awareness Day (#AMDay2023) is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17. This day will help highlight the importance of sound asset management practices. By using robust asset management, local governments strive to deliver services sustainably, and make sure that the way current community service needs are delivered do not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

For information and resources please visit the Local Government Awareness Week page.

UBCM wants to hear from you!  If you are planning any specific activities for #LGAW2023, please let us know through, Jamee Justason, Resolutions and Policy Analyst, for inclusion on the Local Government Awareness Week website.  Also, UBCM wants to help promote BC local governments through social media during the week, so make sure you use the hashtags #LGAW2023 and #AMDay2023.

Together, we want to let everyone know the great work and services our local governments provide to our communities everyday.  Local Government Awareness Week is the perfect opportunity to showcase this.
