The Office of the Fire Commissioner is asking volunteer and composite fire departments across BC to complete a survey. The information will help the office gain a better understanding of the status of volunteer and composite fire departments, with a focus on emergency operations, training, and the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters.
The survey will be available until July 31 and is for volunteer or composite fire departments only. It should be completed by one fire chief or manager per department and by multiple volunteer firefighters.
For the purposes of this survey, a volunteer firefighter is someone who is available or on-call to perform fire services, emergency services, and non-emergency duties for a jurisdiction as needed. They may receive nominal remuneration—such as honoraria, paid expenses, paid on-call, part-time paid—or may receive no remuneration, and may have other occupations.
Please contact the Office of the Fire Commissioner with any questions.
