DFO consultation on fish and fish habitat

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is seeking input on the modernization and development of new policies, frameworks, instruments and guidance to implement the fish and fish habitat protection provisions of the Fisheries Act.

Interested groups can provide feedback on six areas of consultation under the modernized Fisheries Act: 

  1. Codes of Practice; 
  2. Habitat Offsetting and Banking Policies; 
  3. Prescribed Works and Water Regulation; 
  4. Cumulative Effects; 
  5. Engagement Framework; and 
  6. Fisheries Act registry

Comments are due on June 30th for the first 5 areas, and on April 30th for the Fisheries Act registry.

Following this round of consultation, DFO will publish an engagement summary report in September 2021.
