Publishing Date

Program information for the 2025 intake of the FireSmart Community Funding and Supports program has been posted. Applications can be submitted starting October 1, 2024. UBCM staff will host a webinar for applicants to learn about changes for the 2025 program on July 30, and October 2. Please register in advance.

The program provides funding to local governments and First Nations in BC to undertake community-based FireSmart planning and activities that reduce the community’s risk from wildfire. Program materials for the 2025 intake are now available. Applications will be accepted starting October 1, 2024.

Several changes to the program will be implemented based on feedback from UBCM members and successful applicants, including:

  • Increased funding amounts for lower risk class applicants,
  • Additional funding for eligible fuel management activities for all applicants, and
  • A FireSmart BC Education Program for local school districts.

The First Nations’ Emergency Services Society, Forest Enhancement Society of BC, and UBCM work with the Ministry of Forests to deliver the FireSmart Community Funding & Supports program. Funding is provided by the Province of BC.
