2024 Community Excellence Awards winners

UBCM presented the 2024 Community Excellence Awards on Tuesday evening. These awards have been offered since 2004 with a goal of celebrating excellence in local governments and providing a forum for our members to learn from one another’s successes. We would like to congratulate all winners who are leading the way with vision, creativity and innovation.

The Community Excellence Awards recognize and celebrate UBCM member First Nations, regional districts and municipalities that have implemented projects or programs that go above and beyond in meeting the purposes of local government in BC. The awards are intended to showcase outstanding initiatives and share them with other members to implement in their own communities.

Excellence in Service Delivery is awarded to the City of Victoria for OUR DWTN: Victoria Downtown Revitalization Program. The City of Richmond was awarded an honourable mention for its Community Services Pop Ups Program Model.

Excellence in Asset Management is awarded to the City of Kelowna for Enterprise Asset Management System Implementation.

Excellence in Sustainability is awarded to the City of Nanaimo for Nanaimo ReImagined: City Plan, Integrated Action Plan and Monitoring Strategy

Excellence in Governance is awarded to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District for Modern Communications Approach and Financial Infographics Help Residents Understand TNRD Services, Their Costs, and "Who Does What". The Fraser Valley Regional District was awarded an honourable mention for their Financial Plan and Public Engagement.

The Presidents Committee Choice award was awarded to the District of Central Saanich for Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R).
