Strong local government experience in new provincial government


Publishing Date

October's provincial election saw many Members of the Legislative Assembly elected with local government experience. Of the ninety-three elected MLAs, over 27% or twenty five MLAs are former councillors, mayors or regional district board members.

There are fifteen members of the government caucus and eleven members of the official opposition caucus with local government backgrounds. This number holds the potential for a deeper understanding of the challenges and local needs of communities within the Legislature.
