Allocated Canada Community-Building Funds ready for transfer to communities

Publishing Date

The first transfer from the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) under the new ten-year administrative agreement is underway. Local governments across BC will share in $163 million in funding – the first of two such installments this year. It is expected that in total the Government of Canada will transfer $1.6 billion to BC communities throughout the current agreement.

To receive funding through the allocated Community Works Fund of the CCBF, local governments must complete a funding agreement with UBCM. Most local governments have now completed agreements to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of these funds. The allocated funding anticipated for the first five years of the agreement for each community in B.C. is available on our website

Local governments can utilize Community Works Funds for several community infrastructure priorities – including roads, water, wastewater, public transit and recreational services. For full details on the program, visit our program page.
