UBCM is seeking one representative to contribute to an inland boater safety project led by the B.C. Injury Research and Prevention Unit (BCIRPU). This 3-year project seeks to increase public education towards recreational boat safety on inland waterways. Interested individuals have until March 17, 2023, to apply.
The project’s overall goal is to reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths associated with recreational boating. To accomplish this goal, the inland boater safety project will seek to develop a report on recreational boat injuries in B.C., engage boat safety and injury prevention experts, and develop a social marketing campaign.
UBCM’s representative will be asked to attend semi-regular project meetings (virtually), to help identify at-risk communities and provide input toward campaign messaging and materials. This representative will also help facilitate the sharing of educational materials.
Interested parties may contact Bhar Sihota, UBCM Senior Policy Analyst, by March 17, 2023. The UBCM Executive will consider applications at an upcoming meeting, with all nominees to be subsequently informed of the Board’s decision.
