Elected officials from UBCM member local governments and First Nations are invited to email submit nomination forms and expressions of interest to UBCM for three Director at Large positions. UBCM has vacancies on its Executive board following the recent local government election. Past President Laurey Anne Roodenburg will oversee the process to fill the three Director at Large positions.
The First VP, Second VP and one Director at Large positions on the Executive are currently vacant. The UBCM Bylaws do not permit the Executive to appoint Vice Presidents, but Vice Presidents can move up to fill vacancies and the Executive is permitted to temporarily fill Vice President vacancies with acting directors at large.
The Executive determined it would seek nominations/expressions of interest from the membership to fill three Director at Large positions. As well, Councillor Trish Mandewo has moved up from Third VP to First VP. The full process for filling vacancies is outlined in s. 9.5 of the Executive Policies.
Eligibility for Office
All elected officials of UBCM are eligible to run for a Director at Large position.
Process
Eligible elected officials interested in applying are encouraged to complete the nomination form and return it by email to the attention of the Past President. Candidates are also encouraged to provide a short bio (not more than 300 words) with their nomination form. All materials can be sent to the attention of Past President, Councillor Laurey-Anne Roodenburg, care of UBCM.
The submission deadline for expressions of interest (nomination form and bio) is: Monday, December 12, 2022, @ 4 pm.
The Executive will consider all expressions of interest and make a decision regarding whom they will appoint to fill these three vacancies. Following Executive deliberations, all members will be notified of the Executive’s decision. Newly appointed board members will be invited to attend the February 23-24, 2023 Executive meeting in Richmond.
