Article 22 of the 2012 Provincial Police Service Agreement calls for a review of substantive issues at five-year intervals. As the second five-year period will conclude in April 2022, the Province has asked local governments to submit issues related to the Police Service Agreement for consideration by February 26, 2021.
Local governments were first advised of the opportunity for RCMP contract feedback through the November 4, 2020 edition of The Compass. This week, a letter was also emailed to mayors of municipalities over 5,000 in population that utilize RCMP services, advising of this deadline as well as an additional opportunity for feedback through a January 27, 2021 (1:00 – 3:00 PM) Zoom teleconference.
For more information, to RSVP for the January 27 Zoom teleconference, or to provide written feedback (i.e. Police Service Agreement issues for consideration) towards the Five Year Review, please contact Bhar Sihota, UBCM Senior Policy Analyst.
