Taxation Authority Autonomy

WHEREAS the right of a municipality to tax property owners is firmly entrenched in provincial statute; AND WHEREAS the provincial government must increase its support of municipalities as they attempt to lessen the infrastructure gap: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities begin a campaign to lobby the provincial government to honour the right of municipalities to set their own taxation rate.
