Support Local Governments to Plan for 100 Renewable Energy

Whereas all levels of government and society must be mobilized and coordinated to address the challenge of climate change; And whereas Esquimalt is a leader among BC communities in the adoption of sustainable practices: Therefore be it resolved that Esquimalt requests UBCM to consider the following resolutions at the 2018 UBCM Convention: That UBCM ask the province to provide adequate resources and support to local governments to plan for, and implement, a target of using 100 renewable energy by 2050, or an equivalent GHG reduction target.
