WHEREAS there has been demonstrated opposition to locating Run of the River projects and their associated transmission infrastructure in Class A Provincial Parks: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government respond to public concerns about the comprehensiveness of the environmental assessment process in British Columbia; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the provincial government delay consideration of Run of River projects until the implementation strategy for the BC Energy Plan is prepared that addresses the cumulative impacts of water power projects while considering the intrinsic and recreational values of crown land and other public resources such as provincial parks in addition to the goals of achieving energy security and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
