Restoration of Three-Year Terms of Local Government Office

Whereas local government is the level of government closest to the people and shorter terms of public office are conducive to greater accountability of elected officials; And whereas shorter terms of public office increase accessibility for a diversity of voices, including young people, people who are early- or mid-career, and people with differing familial obligations: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM call on the Government of British Columbia to introduce legislation to restore three-year terms of local government office.
