WHEREAS Section 493 of the Local Government Act currently prevents a corporation from having a vote in local government elections including other voting for borrowing for service area improvements; AND WHEREAS corporations contribute taxes and service delivery fees towards the operation of local services but have no representation: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM request that the provincial government review the Local Government Act and amend it accordingly to permit corporations the right to a vote in referenda on local government service delivery.
