WHEREAS the Community Charter requires that if a local government needs to publish a notice, it must be in a newspaper that circulates in the community; AND WHEREAS local online news services also serve communities and have increasing readership: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Province of British Columbia be requested to amend the Community Charter to permit a local government to advertise in a recognized local online news service to satisfy the notice provisions of the Charter.
