Oil Tanker Opposition

WHEREAS the Coastal First Nations and Save the Fraser declarations are recognized and prohibit oil tanker expansions through BCs coast; AND WHEREAS the currently proposed pipeline will mode crude oil through the province of BC from the tar sands of Alberta, for export at the coast and through coastal waters of British Columbia, and will benefit Alberta at the expense of British Columbia: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM and its membership express unequivocal opposition to projects by Kinder Morgan, Enbridge, or any other entity that would lead to the expansion of oil tanker traffic through BCs coastal waters; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that UBCM petition the provincial government to use whatever means are available to stop the expansion of oil tanker traffic on our coast.
