New Employer Health Tax

Whereas the Province has brought in a new employer health tax to replace medical services plan premiums without any consultation with local governments; And whereas there are apparently significant cost impacts of this new tax for local government members that will need to be recovered through property taxes or through the other limited revenue sources available to local governments: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM request that the Province meet with UBCM to discuss the proposed tax, the implications of the tax, and to request a delay to its implementation until UBCM has had the opportunity to provide feedback to the Province.
