WHEREAS drugs to assist with critical cancer therapy and chronic illness, and other crucial medical treatment therapies, including out-patient stays at hospital lodges, are not covered by medical insurance and cause undue hardship for many citizens throughout the province; AND WHEREAS the high cost and increasing number of new anti-cancer, chronic care and supportive care drugs have resulted in an inequality of access to promising new treatment approaches in the Province of British Columbia: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that any cancer drug, serious illness drug and out-of town lodging needed by British Columbian citizens, deemed necessary for treatment and authorized by a medical specialist, be covered by medical insurance.
