Whereas legalized cannabis has the potential to displace traditional food crop cultivation; And whereas only 1.1 of the land area in BC is prime agricultural land, and this land is needed for food security and to reduce British Columbias reliance on imported produce; And whereas the commercial cultivation of cannabis can be undertaken in industrial warehouses located in established industrial areas: Therefore be it resolved that the provincial government be requested to prohibit or place restrictions on the use of ALR land for cannabis cultivation.
