WHEREAS it is deemed to be in the public interest that the construction of homes be regulated by building standards and monitored by qualified inspectors before a permit is issued to occupy the home; AND WHEREAS it is in the public interest that prospective buyers of existing homes have access to qualified and certified inspection services for the purpose of being informed of any deviation from building standards prior to concluding a purchase agreement for an existing home: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Government of British Columbia establish specific licensing standards for the inspection of existing buildings; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that use of the designation Licensed Home and Property Inspector be restricted to persons certified to have completed the required training and passed the required examination.
