Funding for Joint Emergency Preparedness Program

WHEREAS over the past 10 years the federal minister of Public Safety Canada has been providing funding for Joint Emergency Preparedness Program JEPP, the national emergency stockpile system as well as support to the Urban Search Rescue teams USAR; AND WHEREAS the funding for the JEPP is heavily relied upon for emergency planning, training, equipment and risk assessment for emergency events, such as a large earthquake; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM request the federal minister to reconsider its decisions to eliminate the JEPP funding grant and national emergency stockpile system and to cancel the support for the urban search and rescue team and restore financing to appropriate levels.
