WHEREAS the recommendations outlined in the Filmon Report 2004 expect landowners to follow the principles in the Fire Smart Manual Urban Interface areas designing silviculture prescriptions that reduce fire hazards on local government, private and provincial lands; AND WHEREAS costs for Crown land post-harvest clean-up, thinning and long-term fuel management programs should not be borne by local governments: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government fund 100 of the costs required to follow the principles contained in the Fire Smart Manual with the Wildland Urban Interface areas on Crown land.
