Equal Pay for Equal Service

WHEREAS under Section 197 1 a of the Community Charter municipalities in British Columbia must, by bylaw, impose property value taxes for the year based on the annually assessed value of land and improvements provided by the B.C. Assessment Authority each year; AND WHEREAS properties assessed at higher values pay more for municipal services than properties assessed at lower values: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government review its tax collection methodology for each property classification so that there is equality established; that is, equal pay for equal service.
