WHEREAS small rural and urban local governments are struggling to provide adequate emergency services and training due to escalating costs and insufficient federal and provincial funding, which compromises the safety and well-being of citizens; AND WHEREAS the federal government announced that federal contributions for emergency projects under the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program JEPP will end in 2013: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM petition the federal government to reverse its decision and reinstate federal funding for emergency projects under JEPP past 2013.
