WHEREAS coastal oil tanker traffic off of British Columbias fragile and treacherous coast creates the risk of a major oil spill that can endanger wildlife and the livelihoods of coastal communities: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM, through the Province of British Columbia, ensure that the federal government maintain and strengthen a moratorium on coastal tanker traffic off the coast of British Columbia.
