Cannabis Tax Revenue Sharing

Whereas the Government of Canada will legalize the use of recreational cannabis in July 2018; And whereas legalization of recreational cannabis will result in new costs to local governments for enforcement, licensing requirements, inspections, education and awareness: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM lobby the Province of British Columbia to provide fifty 50 percent of the provincial share of the cannabis tax sharing formula to British Columbia local governments, and for support for the four principles of the current UBCM approach.
