Alternative Forms of Voting

WHEREAS Part 3 of the Local Government Act has not had a comprehensive review in a number of years; AND WHEREAS a number of other jurisdictions in Canada have amended their election legislation to provide for alternative forms of voting: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial Ministry of Community Services be asked to amend Part 3 of the Local Government Act to provide for alternative forms of voting which would allow electors to cast absentee ballots in local government elections.
