The BC Government launched engagement on a new provincial Watershed Security Strategy and Fund on January 25th, and has prepared a discussion paper to provide background information and enable input on a broad range of watershed security related themes. The themes include watershed governance, data and science, reconciliation, drinking water, land use planning, supply and demand, and funding. The engagement period closes March 18, 2022.
The Province will be holding a webinar for local government elected officials and staff on Thursday, March 10, 2022 between 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. to present on the discussion paper and discuss themes of greatest interest to local governments. Please register before March 10th.
Input received during this period of engagement will inform development of a draft strategy to be released in the fall, with additional opportunity for input following its release. The Province expects to release the final strategy in 2023.
