The UBCM Special Committee on Climate Action held its fourth meeting on December 13th, which focussed on mitigation and adaptation efforts at the local level. Representatives of the Climate Action Secretariat provided an update on efforts to develop a provincial adaptation preparedness strategy, and discussed linkages to current and potential local adaptation actions.
The Committee reviewed and discussed a revised mitigation discussion paper, and is making progress on identifying potential pathways of action. The Committee also reviewed an adaptation discussion paper, as well as examined submissions from Committee members on adaptation measures that would best create and support resilient communities. A fifth meeting of the Special Committee on Climate Action will be held at the end of January.
