Short-term rental opt-in and opt-out deadline

Each year, local governments can request by resolution to “opt-in” to the Province’s principal residence requirement by March 31 for the change to take effect November 1. Local governments that have had a 3% or more vacancy rate for two consecutive years can request to “opt-out” on the same timeline with approval from the Province.
