An application-based funding intake will open November 1, 2024 for eligible applicants to support the transition of existing 911 services to Next Generation 911. Details for applications are available now. This intake follows the 2023 allocation-based funding program.

Application-based funding is modeled on the allocation program. Eligible applicants will be able to apply under the following categories:

  1. Additional base funding: All local governments and modern Treaty First Nations can apply for up to $100,000 to support local preparedness for the implementation of NG911 through public education, legal and contract costs, mapping and GIS, and local training. The 2025 program also includes eligible costs and activities in relation to civic addressing and signage that is specific to NG911.
  2. Primary PSAP: Local governments that operate an eligible primary PSAP can apply for up to $2 million for the purchase, upgrade, and installation of hardware and software, change management, business continuity, training, etc.
  3. Secondary PSAP: Local governments that operate an eligible secondary PSAP can apply for up to $2 million for the purchase, upgrade, and installation of hardware and software, change management, business continuity, training, etc.
  4. Municipally-run RCMP Operational Communications Centres: Local governments that operate an eligible OCC can apply for up to $500,000. Funding is limited to minor hardware acquisition, change management, business continuity, training, etc.

The 2025 program has expanded funding for primary and secondary PSAPs to include additional eligible costs and activities related to cyber-security.

The intake will open on November 1, 2024 and close on February 14, 2025. In the case that the timelines for the implementation of NG911 are extended by the CRTC, the application deadline may be adjusted.

A webinar is scheduled for October 23, 2024 at 1:30 pm. Advance registration is required.
